Fortunately Ocean Breeze is open, but unfortunately the waterslides are not open for summer 2020. Despite the CDC's conclusion that there is no evidence that COVID-19 spreads in chlorinated water the State of Virginia and Virginia Department of Health decided that waterslides may not open. This approach is inconsistent with other states and contradictory to the state's own rules of allowing playground equipment, amusement rides, roller coasters, and go-karts to open. This is just one of the many examples of punitive rules against businesses with no logic or science behind the decision.
The only waterpark in Virginia Beach is located less than two miles south of the oceanfront. Ocean Breeze Waterpark has a one-million gallon wave pool, water playground and 16 water slides of all different varieties. For young children Buccaneer Bay offers kid friendly interactive water features and miniature fun. Thrill-seekers will want to check out Bahama Mamma, a high-speed body slide that is the wildest water ride at Ocean Breeze.
