La Mirada, Calif. – New attractions may be added to the Buccaneer Bay waterpark at Splash! Aquatics Center after another profitable summer season. For the fourth year city officials reported that the aquatic center has generated a profit – $450,195 – the largest ever made.
"We have pretty much remained the same but we may look at the possibility of adding another attraction," said Lori Thompson, director of community services.
Having completed another successful season, the city will now consider adding a new attraction to the popular water park following a recommendation that they add something new every five to eight years.
Attractions being considered are a four-story, six-lane racing mat slide or an interactive tube water ride. The new attraction is estimated to cost somewhere between $1.5 and $2-million.
City officials reported that it cost $2.5 million to run Splash! In 2014-15, but the waterpark, instruction pool, and competitive swimming pool generated nearly $3 million in revenue in the same period.
