West Homestead, PA — Sandcastle Waterpark announced they will open a brand-new water slide for their guests this summer. The new ride named Dragon's Den will offer a completely difference experience than anything else offered at the park.
"We want to try to keep things fun and exciting for our guests," says Sandcastle's General Manager Damian Dondero.
Dragon's Den will catapult park visitors riding in two-person tubes down a dark and mysterious 45-foot tunnel, which plummets into a 35-foot bowl where they will encounter a nine-foot tall mist-spitting dragon. After completing two-to-four revolutions in the bowl riders will mysteriously disappear into a mist-shrouded abyss and splash down into a landing pool below.
"This has been a few years in the making and we are excited to add a waterslide that is completely different than any other experience we currently have at Sandcastle," said Dondero.
The new attraction will be located adjacent to the Mon Tsunami Wave Pool and behind the Snack Shack and construction is expected to be complete before opening day of the 2012 season. Dragon's Den is a product of ProSlide Technology Inc. of Ottawa, Canada.
Sandcastle Waterpark opens weekends beginning May 26 through Labor Day, September 3. The park will begin daily operation on June 8 and continue through August 19.
