Pigeon Forge, TN -- Dollywood's Splash Country announced plans to expand the water park in 2010 with the addition of Slick Rock Racer, a multi-lane racing mat slide. The new racing slide will arrive in time for the water park's 10th anniversary.
"Me and my brothers and sisters used to play in the creeks around home in the Smoky Mountains, and more times than not, we'd land on a mossy covered rock that sent us for a ride like you wouldn't believe," Dolly Parton said. "That's the same kind of unexpected thrills and adventure that I had in mind when I chose Slick Rock Racer for families to enjoy together at Dollywood's Splash Country."
Slick Rock Racer will have four side-by-side lanes that riders will slide down while riding face first on rubber mats. The 300-foot long slide begins with a dip to build speed and then features multiple bumps along the way before the splash down finale.
The new ride is expected to accommodate about 600 guests per hour.
When Slide Rock Racer debuts next summer it will join more than 30 other water attractions at the Splash Country water park.
Dollywood's Splash Country is located on 35-acres adjacent to Dollywood theme park. The park twice has been named one of the country's top ten water parks by the Travel Channel. In 2001, Dollywood's Splash Country was named the World Waterpark Association's Best New Water Park in America.
