Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Opens For Sneak Peak

Kansas City -- Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Waterpark will open for a sneak peek starting today, Thursday, July 16. The preview will give guests a chance to experience parts of the new waterpark while crews continue to work on finishing the rest of the attractions.

During the preview a limited selection of attractions will be available and Schlitterbahn will be offering guests discounted admission.

"We are excited to unveil our innovative collection of water rides and attractions as we continue to prepare for our inaugural 2009 season," explained Michael Catcott, project executive for the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village.

One of Schlitterbahn's signature attractions, Torrent River, is set to open for the preview. The Kansas City version is the world's longest tidal wave river, which combines a continuous, endless float with ocean-sized waves creating an ever-changing experience.

The park will also open Bahnzai Pipeline an open-air tube slide that descends a twisted past that starts from a 42-foot tall tower. Black Knight, a dark, fully enclosed slide and Wolf Pack, an oversized tube slide will also be open.

Other attractions ready for the preview will be Henry's Hideout Hot Tub Bar, Kinderhaven Kids' Area, Torrent Beach and Torrent Cove.

Schilitterbahn's signature Master Blaster water coaster – Storm Blaster – that propels riders up and down hills like roller coaster will open at a later date. The park will eventually have a second beach and two tube chutes.

Once complete, the first phase of the waterpark will offer 13 signature Schlitterbahn attractions encompassing 24 slides and chutes.

"The Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Waterpark offers a unique collection of trademark experiences that cannot be found at other waterparks throughout the Midwest," added Catcott.

"Our new park delivers an entirely new experience to the Kansas City region, and we look forward to entertaining new legions of fans this summer."

During the preview Schlitterbahn Vacation Village general admission will be discounted to $32.99. Children ages 3-11 and seniors age 55 plus will be admitted for $24.99. Prices do not include tax.

Kansas City locals will also get to experience some of Schlitterbahn's other popular offerings including free parking, free tubes and free lifejackets. Also, guests are welcome to bring a family picnic basket, minus alcohol and glass containers, into the waterpark.
