Valleyfair To Build New Wave Pool At Renamed Soak City Waterpark

Shakopee, MN -- Valleyfair announced they will build a brand-new 350,000-gallon wave pool and other amenities that will more than double the size of their renamed Soak City waterpark.

"The enormous popularity of our waterpark has created a need for expansion," said Larry MacKenzie, general manager of Valleyfair. "We are thrilled to be able to add an attraction that will be appealing to guests of all ages."

The new wave pool will cover 34,000 square-feet and feature 200-feet of "beach frontage" with zero-depth entry. The pool will measure 75-feet wide at the deep end and reach a maximum of six feet of depth.

Valleyfair plans to offer cabana rentals around the new wave pool as a new guest service. The cabanas will offer guests shade from the summer sun, as well as food and beverage wait service.

The park will also be adding a new bathhouse with private changing and shower areas, tube rentals, locker rentals and a new merchandise stand and food concession stand.

After this exapansion the waterpark will be just over seven acres, double the size of the existing facility.

Valleyfair also announced that the waterpark will also debut with a brand new name in 2009 - Soak City.

Other attractions at Soak City include Panic Falls Body Slides, Panic Falls Speed Slides, Hurricane Falls family raft ride and Raging Rapids whitewater tube ride. The park also offers Ripple Rapids, Splash Station and Giggle Run for children.

Soak City and all waterpark attractions are included with admission to Valleyfair amusement park. The waterpark operates from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.
