Lifeguards Honored With Aquatic Safety Award at Oceans of Fun

Kansas City, MO -- Kansas City's Oceans of Fun waterpark has been awarded the "Platinum International Aquatic Safety Award" by Jeff Ellis & Associates, a prestigious industry accolade for consistently exceeding its criteria for aquatic safety.

Jeff Ellis & Associates, International Aquatic Safety and Risk Management Consultants, acknowledges Oceans of Fun by presenting the park's lifeguard staff with the award for professional excellence.

The honor is only given to those clients scoring in the top 9% of the audit criteria. Receiving this honor signifies that Oceans of Fun offers the highest degree of swimmer protection currently available in the aquatic industry.

"Oceans of Fun is honored to be recognized among the leaders in the amusement industry with the acceptance of the 'Platinum International Aquatic Safety Award'," states Bridgette Bywater, Director of Safety and Oceans of Fun. "We look forward to continuing to provide our guests with outstanding service while they enjoy our water attractions."

During an unannounced Ellis audit on July 5, 2007, Oceans of Fun rated "exceeds 100%". The waterpark also received eight golden guard awards, a distinction given to top lifeguards as chosen by Ellis auditors.

All of the waterpark's 175 licensed lifeguards complete the National Pool & Waterpark Lifeguard Training Program by Jeff Ellis & Associates. The program features skills training that far exceeds industry standards, and integrates into one curriculum a complete range of state-of-the art rescue technology, including First Aid, CPR for Professional Rescuers, Emergency Oxygen Support, and Automated External Defibrillation.

Oceans of Fun waterpark open for the 2008 season on Saturday, May 24, 2008. Worlds of Fun is open for weekends starting Saturday, April 12, 2008.
