Sadly the 2016 season was the final one for Wildwater Kingdom. Park operator Cedar Fair Entertainment announced on August 19, 2016 that the waterpark would close forever on Labor Day, September 5.
Wildwater Kingdom in Northeast Ohio had 17-acres of waterslides, pools and water attractions. The centerpiece of the waterpark was Tidal Wave Bay, a 30,000 square-foot, 390,000 gallon wave pool with crashing waves. Nearby Splash Landing was a four-story, three-level play structure with 70 water gadgets and seven water slides. Every two minutes, a giant bucket drenched the structure with 1,000 gallons of water.
Liquid Lightning took guests riding in four-person, cloverleaf shaped tubes into a six-story tall, 253-foot long funnel. Thrill-seekers also enjoyed Thunder Falls, the tallest water slide complex in Ohio with seven slides descending from a ten story high platform and reaching speeds of up to 27 mph!
