Kansas City -- Travelers and Kansas City locals who visit the new Schlitterbahn Vacation Village this summer will find a waterpark that is a little different than the rest and it may be what you're looking for while trying to save money during the economic recession.

This summer Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Waterpark will help vacationing families stretch their family vacation dollars by offering free parking, free tubes and free life jackets, plus you're invited to bring your own food and beverages inside the park.

The extras that visitors often pay a fee for at other waterparks are included for free at Schlitterbahn. Free parking alone can save a family $10 or more compared to other parks.

For budget conscious travelers the opportunity to bring your own picnic into the park can save a family a sizable sum and it's a tradition at the three Schlitterbahn Waterparks in Texas.

Of course Schlitterbahn has food and beverages available for purchase throughout the park, but guests who bring their own are not restricted to a designated picnic area or tailgating. Like those who buy their food, they may enjoy their meal wherever they like while lounging on a beach or at a picnic table in the middle of the park.

Schlitterbahn's only restrictions are no grills, glass containers or alcoholic beverages.

"Schlitterbahn truly cares about providing family entertainment without charging for all the extras, which can really save the family a substantial amount of money," explains Michael Catcott, project executive for the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village. "During difficult economic times like these, families can feel comfortable knowing there are no surprise expenses once they enter the park."

In addition to the value, Schlitterbahn visitors will enjoy a unique collection of attractions that are not found at other waterparks in the Midwest.

Visitors will find thrilling rides like Storm Blaster®, an uphill water coaster, which combines the up and down thrills of a roller coaster with the unique experience of being propelled upward by jets of water.

The park's Torrent River® is the world's largest tidal wave river. This unique attraction sends riders afloat in tubes through a canyon with ocean-sized waves surging through the waterway.

Schlitterbahn Vacation Village will also feature The Transportainment River System® to minimize the time spent waiting in line and walking. Tubers will travel from one end of the waterpark to the other as they experience multiple attractions without ever leaving the water.

Schlitterbahn plans to announce pricing and its opening schedule soon. The Kansas City location is the first expansion outside of Texas for the popular Schlitterbahn group of water parks. Additional retail, lodging and entertainment elements are expected to added in additional phases through 2011.
